Jeans nâ€(TM) Tees Interactive Business Simulation

Jeans ‘n Tees for Business Teens

Jeans'nTees is a new online business game bringing business studies and accounting lessons to life and helping students engage with concepts that they may have struggled with in the past.

Tasmanstudios and Mark Wilson, an accounting teacher, developed the Jeans ‘n Tees business simulation to make business studies, economics and accounting more accessible for students.

Each school receives a teacherâ€(TM)s guide packed full of classroom activities and information to get students ready before they get to the computer room and start the simulator.

Once students set up their business they have to make tough decisions to keep their business alive. Students buy stock, set prices, explore advertising avenues, borrow money, hire staff, check market news, decide on fixtures and keep their bank account balanced.

“The game is designed to encourage students to be come passionate about commerce subjects. Students learn the concepts in both economics and accounting by being involved in them and having consequences based in their decisions,” says Mark Wilson.

Each task is designed to generate discussion in the class and all of the activities have learning outcomes that students can be awarded NCEA credits for.

Currently there are five schools using the simulation and tasmanstudios plans to roll out to more schools in 2006.
